Lung transplantation
- Requirements to sign off lung transplantation for CCT are attendance at a teaching programme/course + 2 outpatient clinics in specialist/satellite clinic + CbD.
- We have an agreement with Harefield Hospital to facilitate our transplant experience. Please speak to Dr Carby’s secretary (Patricia Harris) and expect to observe over four days from Tuesday to Friday, which will include an assessment clinic, a follow-up clinic, a ward round and an MDT. Please ensure that you have approval from your educational supervisor before you contact Dr Carby’s secretary suggesting dates.
- Alternatively previous trainees have managed to arrange a similar experience at Papworth by emailing one of the consultants there (Dr Debra Thomas, Dr Caroline Patterson and Dr Jasvir Parmar). This can be combined with pulmonary hypertension.
Pulmonary hypertension
- Requirements to sign off pulmonary hypertension for CCT are attendance at a teaching programme/course + 2 outpatient clinics in specialist/satellite clinic + CbD.
- If you are rotating through Portsmouth then Dr Rachel Davies from the Hammersmith does a satellite clinic one Friday per month. Contact the clinical rota lead to schedule this in.
- At Southampton there is a monthly joint pulmonary hypertension clinic with Dr John Wort from Royal Brompton and Harefield and Dr Michael Brown.
Cystic fibrosis
- Newly clarified minimum requirements are: attendance at a teaching programme session/course + 2 outpatient clinics + MDT + CbD with reflection.
- Get in touch with Prof Allenby at Southampton who can schedule you in to attend some clinics. Please ensure that you have approval from your educational supervisor before you contact him suggesting dates.
